Finance minster says budget safe despite rebound in global oil prices
Jakarta, July 24 -- Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the country's 2026 State Budget (APBN) will remain resilient despite the recent surge in global crude oil prices, although higher prices would narrow the government's fiscal room.
"With oil prices rising again, our fiscal space is becoming more limited. But it does not endanger the state budget because this is not a new situation," Purbaya told reporters at the Finance Ministry in Jakarta on Friday.
He also assured that the rise in global oil prices would not disrupt the implementation of the government's second-half 2026 economic stimulus package, as the program was designed based on the assumption that crude oil prices would remain relatively high.
