Indonesia, Oct. 28 -- Culture Minister Fadli Zon urged young people to keep the spirit of the Youth Pledge alive through concrete action, including embracing cultural diversity and contributing to the advancement of Indonesian culture.

"The spirit of the Youth Pledge must continue to live on, be passed down, and be put into practice," he said while leading a ceremony marking the 98th Youth Pledge Day at Fort Rotterdam in Makassar on Wednesday.

He said the pledge, declared by Indonesian youth on October 28, 1928, marked a historic milestone in the nation's struggle and demonstrated that differences in background need not stand in the way of unity.
