Jakarta, Sept. 3 -- Indonesia's Environment Ministry has launched law enforcement proceedings and installed official monitoring markers across 21 companies after forest and land fires scorched over 11,400 hectares across seven provinces in Kalimantan and Sumatra.

Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement at the Environment Ministry/Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) Rizal Irawan confirmed that Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS) are currently on the ground conducting field verifications and sealing off affected sites.

"All 21 business entities are currently undergoing field verification and the installation of monitoring signs by our investigators," Rizal told ANTARA on Wednesday (September 2).
