Jakarta, March 22 -- Indonesia's halal authority has urged consumers and businesses to strengthen compliance during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday, citing surging demand for certified products and the need to boost global competitiveness.

Head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Ahmad Haikal Hasan said in a statement on Sunday that the holiday period presents a critical opportunity to reinforce the national halal assurance system as consumption rises sharply.

He noted that demand for a wide range of goods-from food and beverages to fashion and cosmetics-typically increases ahead of Eid, making stricter adherence to halal standards increasingly important.
