Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Indonesia should focus on strengthening productive capacity rather than headline economic growth alone to sustain expansion over the long term, Deputy Development Planning Minister Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas)-Asian Development Bank Institute conference in Jakarta, Febrian said productivity, innovation, human capital, industrial capacity and resilient institutions are key to strengthening the economy.

He said the global economy faces challenges including geopolitical tensions disrupting trade and investment, technological shifts affecting production and jobs, climate change and the energy transition.
