Samarinda, May 11 -- The East Kalimantan Environmental Office has tightened its assessment process for technical approval documents related to industrial wastewater discharge in an effort to preserve river ecosystems.
"Every wastewater discharge must be strictly controlled and meet quality standards to prevent environmental damage and protect public health," Doni Fahroni, an official at the East Kalimantan Environmental Office, said in Samarinda on Sunday.
He said one of the key measures to prevent pollution is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the feasibility of corporate wastewater treatment systems.
