Indonesia, Sept. 26 -- Ijen Crater Nature Park, internationally renowned for its highly acidic crater lake and rare "blue fire" phenomenon, will reopen to tourists on Monday (September 28) after being closed for several weeks due to land and forest fires.

The East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) temporarily closed the park, which straddles Bondowoso and Banyuwangi districts, on September 4 to facilitate emergency firefighting operations.

"According to a circular issued by the East Java BKSDA, tourist visits will resume on September 28, including nature tourism, hiking, research, and general education activities," Head of Ijen Crater Nature Park Rusdi Santoso told ANTARA on Saturday.
