Jakarta, March 10 -- House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani expressed her condolences on the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the late Supreme Leader of Iran, who was killed in a joint United States-Israel strike on February 28.

"On behalf of the leadership and members of the DPR, we express our profound condolences over the passing of His Excellency Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, due to the US-Israeli military attacks on Iranian territory," Maharani said while opening a new parliamentary session on Tuesday.

She said Indonesia, as a nation that upholds independence, lasting peace, and social justice as enshrined in its Constitution, conveyed deep sympathy to the Iranian people.
