Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) remains committed to listening to public input and criticism, House Speaker Puan Maharani affirmed during a plenary session marking the legislature's 81st anniversary.

She acknowledged that there is still room for the DPR to pursue reform and improve its performance in legislation, budgeting, oversight, and parliamentary diplomacy.

"Criticism should not be regarded as a gap between the people and the DPR, we must view it as part of a democratic relationship that keeps the DPR grounded in people's aspirations, realities, and lives," Puan remarked at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
