Jakarta, March 12 -- Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani said the implementation of the 2026 hajj pilgrimage must still be carried out despite ongoing geopolitical dynamics.

"With the current global geopolitical situation, any issues or matters related to the pilgrimage must still be implemented as well as possible," Maharani said after leading a plenary meeting at the parliament complex here on Thursday.

She said all parties involved in organizing the pilgrimage for Indonesian hajj pilgrims must conduct evaluations, mitigation measures, and anticipatory steps regarding the situation in the Middle East.
