Jakarta, April 23 -- Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin urged personnel of territorial development battalions (YTP) to maintain harmonious relations with local communities.

"All soldiers must always maintain harmonious relationships with communities and avoid any actions that may hurt the people," he said.

Sjamsoeddin delivered the remarks during visits to army units in Indramayu and Garut, West Java, on Wednesday, according to a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said the establishment of YTP units across regions aims to support communities through food security, public safety, and infrastructure development.
