Jakarta, Aug. 18 -- The Indonesian Defense Ministry has sent 20 tons of logistical aid and emergency equipment to meet the needs of communities affected by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin personally coordinated the delivery after attending a national ceremony marking the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day in Jakarta on Monday (Aug. 17).

According to a statement cited on Tuesday, the aid was transported by an A400M military transport aircraft that had taken part in the Independence Day aerial parade over Jakarta.
