Danantara eyes wider data center investment as demand surges
Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Indonesia's sovereign investment agency Danantara is ready to expand investment in data centers as strong demand has created capacity shortages and waiting times of up to a year, its technology chief said Thursday.
Sigit Puji Santosa, Chief Technology Officer of Danantara, said newly built capacity was quickly absorbed by the market.
"If we build 100 megawatts, 200 megawatts, it is immediately sold out," Sigit said in Jakarta.
Indonesia currently has about 45 large-scale data centers, but demand for digital infrastructure has outpaced available capacity, with customers waiting six months to a year for access.
