Nabire, Aug. 17 -- The free education programme launched by the Central Papua Provincial Government has reached more than 64,000 students and university students in 2026.

Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa said in Nabire on Monday the programme was part of the provincial government's efforts to ensure that financial constraints should not prevent Papuans from accessing education.

"The Central Papua Provincial government this year is financing the education for more than 58,000 students at junior high schools, senior high schools, vocational schools, special schools, and boarding schools, as well as around 6,000 university students pursuing higher education in various regions," he said.
