Jakarta, July 17 -- Special Presidential Envoy for Energy and Climate Hashim Djojohadikusumo hailed the establishment of a credible carbon trading ecosystem in Indonesia as a crucial breakthrough for the nation's climate goals and transition to green economy.

"This is a breakthrough - a breakthrough that I have personally experienced and witnessed," Hashim said here on Thursday (July 16).

According to him, the national carbon trading ecosystem is now fully operational, backed by key strategic instrument, including the Carbon Unit Registration System (SRUK) and approval from the Ministry of Forestry for the issuance of carbon units under the Non-Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificate (Non-SPE-GRK) scheme.
