Probolinggo, E Java, Sept. 11 -- A forest and land fire has broken out again in the Mount Bromo area of East Java's Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, with firefighters battling the blaze amid steep terrain and strong winds.

"The fire started in the Penggol block of Ngadisari Village on Thursday afternoon (Sept 10) and remains unextinguished," Chief of Probolinggo's Regional Agency for Disaster Countermeasures (BPBD) Oemar Sjarif said here on Friday.

Joint teams from the national park, disaster mitigation agency, military, police and volunteers have deployed maximum efforts to contain the fire, but difficult terrain remains a challenge.
