BRIN maps Indonesia's seaweed value chain for added value
Jakarta, Oct. 1 -- Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has mapped the seaweed industry's value chain from upstream to downstream to identify untapped opportunities and maximize the sector's potential.
PRSIMB researcher Ari Kabul Paminto said in Jakarta on Thursday that value-chain mapping was needed to determine the position of each industrial stage and identify opportunities for further economic value creation.
"We must transform from a resource-based economy that only exploits raw materials into a capability-based economy relying on technology and high-value innovation. Natural resources should be inputs, not final products," Ari said.
