Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Indonesia faced 1,730 natural hazards between Jan. 1 and Sept. 7, 2026, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported, as authorities continue relief efforts for thousands of residents and affected facilities.

"Based on the data compiled by BNPB through Sept. 7, 1,730 disasters occurred, with hydrometeorological and geological hazards topping the list," BNPB Secretary Rustian told a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He pointed out that all 514 districts and cities across Indonesia's 38 provinces continue to face medium to high levels of disaster vulnerability.
