Jakarta, Sept. 9 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has deployed 43,481 personnel and 55 aircraft to fight forest and land fires that have burned 72,009.10 hectares across six priority provinces.

BNPB Head Suharyanto said on Wednesday that, as of September 6, firefighting operations remained active across 939.45 hectares in the six provinces.

"Operations in the six priority provinces have received the largest share of resources, given the extensive areas affected and the significant impact on air quality and community activities," he said.

Suharyanto said the largest areas still affected were in South Sumatra, covering 341.7 hectares, followed by Riau with 283.35 hectares and South Kalimantan with 116.3 hectares....
