Jakarta, Aug. 7 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that joint emergency response teams have successfully contained and extinguished several land and forest fires that broke out simultaneously across four provinces.

The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said in Jakarta on Friday that the fires hit North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Southwest Papua between Wednesday (August 5) and Thursday (August 6).

"Joint teams in the regions responded quickly to contain and extinguish the fires on the same day," he said.
