Jakarta, March 25 -- Around 36,000 permanent housing units are being built for residents affected by floods in three provinces in Sumatra, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, BPNB Head Suharyanto said the housing projects are being carried out by the agency, the Ministry of Housing and Settlements, and other parties, including the Tzu Chi Foundation.
The projects are located in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Suharyanto said BNPB applies two schemes in building permanent housing: direct construction by the agency and self-built housing by residents.
