BMKG lifts tsunami warning following Sulawesi Sea 7.7M earthquake
Jakarta, June 8 -- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has lifted the tsunami early warning following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake near Mindanao, Philippines, after monitoring confirmed that sea levels had stabilized.
BMKG Head Teuku Faisal Fathani announced that the warning status was officially cleared at 10:15 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Monday.
"Considering the current conditions related to observations in several affected areas, there is no longer any significant, dangerous sea level rise. Therefore, the tsunami early warning is declared over," he stated.
