Jakarta, April 29 -- State railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) said the death toll from a train collision at Bekasi Timur Station rose to 16, with 91 injured as of Wednesday.

KAI Vice President Corporate Communications Anne Purba said 107 victims were recorded, including 16 fatalities and 91 injured.

She said 43 of the injured have been discharged, while the rest remain hospitalized.

"We extend our deepest condolences to victims and families, and are focused on care and information support," she said.

She added recovery of commuter line services on the Bekasi-Cikarang route is progressing.

Following gradual evacuation of damaged infrastructure, an initial operational trial was conducted safely.
