Baznas builds three emergency mosques after NTT quake
Jakarta, Aug. 24 -- Indonesia's state-backed Islamic charity, Baznas, is constructing three emergency mosques for communities devastated by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara province on Aug. 15.
The initiative aims to restore access to places of worship for displaced residents as recovery operations continue across the eastern province.
"Baznas has been working to deliver humanitarian aid, including establishing temporary mosques to allow residents to pray safely," Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid said in a statement on Monday.
Two of the temporary structures are being built in Nagekeo Regency, while a third will serve residents in East Manggarai Regency.
