Baliem Valley Festival drives economy, tourism in Highland Papua
Indonesia, Aug. 7 -- Head of Jayawijaya District Atenius Murib expressed optimism that the 34th Baliem Valley Cultural Festival (FBLB) in Walesi Village will generate a significant multiplier effect on the local economy in Indonesia's Highland Papua.
Running from August 7 to 8, the festival is expected to increase tourist arrivals in the region, driving demand for transportation, accommodation, culinary services, handicrafts, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products.
"The impact will be felt by many local business actors, from transportation providers and lodging managers to traders and MSMEs. The more tourists arrive, the greater the economic turnover created in Jayawijaya," Murib said here on Thursday (August 6)....
