Jakarta, July 27 -- Indonesia's waste-to-energy plant in Bali is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen clean-energy supply and create 1,200 green jobs, an environment ministry official said.

The project is also expected to create a cleaner environment, attract investment in green technology and support a sustainable green economy, Laksmi Widyajayanti said.

The Government Communications Agency said Monday that the plant, which broke ground July 8, 2026, will process up to 1,500 tons of waste daily.

The facility is expected to convert 80 to 90 percent of Bali's daily waste into electricity, Widyajayanti, acting deputy for waste management, said.
