Makassar, Sept. 6 -- Australian biotechnology company Uluu is partnering with seaweed farmers and local partners in South Sulawesi to develop a traceable and certified Indonesian seaweed supply chain to meet growing demand in global markets.

The effort comes as Uluu expands its operations in Indonesia through the establishment of PT Uluu Solusi Indonesia, which will develop seaweed-based materials as an alternative to fossil-based plastics, the company said on Saturday.

"Indonesia, as the world's second-largest seaweed producer, has a critical role to play in Uluu's mission to replace fossil-based plastics with materials made from seaweed," President Director of PT Uluu Solusi Indonesia Dian Kurniawati said in a statement in Makassar. ...
