Jakarta, May 11 -- Officials from the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum convened in Shanghai from 11 to 19 May for the Second Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings, as the region faces mounting trade uncertainty and shifting global economic dynamics.

Ambassador Chen Xu, Chair of the APEC 2026 Senior Officials' Meeting, said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday that the current international situation is marked by intertwined changes and turbulence, and APEC faces both opportunities and challenges.

"Whether we can continue to write the Asia-Pacific economic miracle depends on our decisions and actions," he said.
