Jakarta, July 28 -- ANTARA President Director Benny Siga Butarbutar highlighted the media's role in strengthening ties between Indonesia and China through greater cooperation in economics, politics, culture, tourism, education and journalism.

"Media play a crucial role in building a new era, understanding and hopes for future Indonesia-China relations," Benny said Tuesday.

He spoke after Peking University academics, led by Professor Wang Weijia of the university's Institute of Area Studies and Institute of International Communication, visited ANTARA Heritage Center in Jakarta.

Benny said potential cooperation discussed during the meeting included education exchanges.
