Jakarta, Sept. 11 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Alert Level III, citing a high probability of further eruptions and urging the public to maintain a safe distance.

Acting head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Berton SP Panjaitan said here Friday that the status was based on a comprehensive analysis by the Geological Agency.

"Based on developments in volcanic activity, Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Level III. The probability of an eruption in the coming periods remains high," he said.
