Indonesia, Sept. 6 -- Several flights between Lampung and Jakarta were canceled at Radin Inten II International Airport after volcanic ash from an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau spread into flight paths.

"Following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, which sent volcanic ash into airspace along flight routes on Saturday (5/9), several flights to and from Radin Inten II were canceled," Kiki Eprina Arieanti, general manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia's Radin Inten II International Airport, said.

In a statement received here Sunday, she said the cancellations were made to protect the safety of passengers and flight crews.
