Anak Krakatau ash affects most of Tangerang, agency says
Tangerang, Sept. 6 -- Volcanic ash from the eruption of Indonesia's Mount Anak Krakatau has affected most areas of Tangerang city in Banten province, the local disaster management agency (BPBD) said on Sunday.
"According to this morning's report, the ash has already reached the Karang Tengah area. That means most of the city has been affected, as the area borders Jakarta," said Mahdiar, Head of the Tangerang City BPBD told ANTARA.
Based on information from Indonesia's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC) and an analysis of Himawari-9 satellite imagery, two clusters of volcanic ash were identified at 9 p.m. local time on Saturday.
