Palembang, Sept. 11 -- The Ampera Bridge in Palembang, South Sumatra, has been designated as a national cultural heritage site by the central government due to its significant historical and cultural value.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated in Palembang on Friday that the bridge's status as a national cultural heritage site grants the central government the flexibility to intervene and undertake revitalization efforts.

According to him, the Ampera Bridge met the criteria for the designation because it has stood for over 50 years and is an integral part of the local community's daily life.
