Jakarta, May 29 -- Elderly-friendly infrastructure that supports mobility and preventive healthcare could help extend Indonesia's Health-Adjusted Life Expectancy (HALE), currently estimated at 60.7 years, a Health Ministry official said.

Director of Health Services for Vulnerable Groups Imran Pambudi said on Friday that although Indonesia's life expectancy has reached 74.15 years, HALE remains at around 60.7 years.

This highlights a significant gap between overall life expectancy and years lived in good health, leaving many older adults at risk of spending their later years with illnesses, dependency, or functional limitations.
