India, May 18 -- Congress leader V D Satheesan on Monday took oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala, marking the Congress-led United Democratic Front's (UDF) return to power after a decisive victory in the state Assembly elections.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Satheesan, the Congress Legislature Party leader, at a grand swearing-in ceremony attended by top political leaders and thousands of party supporters.

Satheesan took the oath in the name of God. Alongside him, members of his 20-member Cabinet were also sworn in during the ceremony.

The event witnessed the presence of senior Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. ...
