Thane Court Acquits Businessman Accused of Threatening Cops During Towing Drive
India, Sept. 18 -- A court in Maharashtra's Thane district has acquitted businessman Sherbahadur Suresh Singh, husband of a BJP corporator, who was accused of threatening and assaulting police personnel during a vehicle-towing drive in 2017.
Additional Sessions Judge S S Renge on Thursday cleared Singh of charges of criminal intimidation and deterring public servants from discharging their duties under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The case dates back to September 29, 2017, when a police team accompanied by a private towing crane reached the Nalpada area of Thane following complaints of illegal parking.
