Punjab AAP Government Faces Law-and-Order Heat After Second Policeman Dies in a Week
India, Sept. 18 -- The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is facing fresh political criticism over the state's law-and-order situation after Assistant Sub-Inspector Harjit Singh was shot dead in Amritsar, marking the second recent death of a Punjab Police ASI within a week.
Harjit Singh was shot by unidentified assailants while he was on motorcycle patrol near the Bhagtawala Grain Market late Thursday night, police said. He was critically injured and taken to hospital, where he later died during treatment.
Singh was posted at the Gate Hakima police station in Amritsar.
