India, Oct. 29 -- Maharashtra Transport Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar has issued show-cause notices to 27 Regional Transport Office (RTO) and deputy RTO heads over delays in fitting High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) on older vehicles, officials said on Thursday.

The notices point out that more than 50% of vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, are yet to be fitted with the mandatory number plates. The officials concerned have been asked to explain why their offices have failed to achieve the expected progress and submit their replies within seven days of receiving the notices.
