India, Sept. 25 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed uproar on Friday after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved a resolution seeking the immediate and urgent restoration of full statehood to the Union Territory. The Speaker subsequently adjourned the House for half an hour amid protests by BJP members.

The resolution referred to two earlier resolutions passed by the House - one on June 26, 2000, concerning greater autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir, and another on November 6, 2024, seeking the restoration of special status.
