India, Sept. 10 -- Iran has sharply intensified attacks on US military and commercial assets across the Middle East, with an American A-10 warplane reportedly losing a wing and several F-15 fighter jets sustaining light damage at a US-linked base in Jordan.

The escalation comes as Washington examines whether Tehran has gained access to more sophisticated weapons and improved its ability to target moving naval vessels. At the same time, Pakistan is being drawn deeper into the regional crisis after conveying a Saudi warning to Iran over attacks by the Tehran-aligned Houthis.
