India, Sept. 23 -- The IIT Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA) has called for a fair, transparent and speedy investigation into the alleged suicide of 22-year-old student Sahil Wakode, while urging the public and media to avoid speculation, "media trials" and conclusions against individuals before the investigation is complete.

The alumni body said IIT Bombay is going through an "extremely difficult period" and stressed that students, faculty and staff deserve an equitable, inclusive, safe and supportive campus environment.
