Srilanka, June 23 -- A shooting incident has been reported in the Wellawa area in Kurunegala.



According to police, a woman has been critically injured and hospitalised following the shooting, which had taken place this morning (23) at a residence located at Wellawa, Kurunegala.



It is reported that the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was shot with a firearm outside the residence at around 6.45 a.m. today by an individual who was hiding in a nearby wooded area.



Police suspect that an extramarital affair could be the motive behind the shooting incident and believe the woman's illicit lover may have carried it out.
