Wildlife vets continue 'work-to-rule' trade union action over unresolved demands
Srilanka, Aug. 17 -- The Wildlife and Zoo Veterinary Officers' Association says the Ministry of Environment has taken steps to obtain the services of veterinary officers attached to the Ministry of Defence in emergency situations, due to the ongoing 'work-to-rule' trade union action by wildlife veterinary officers.
The association launched the work-to-rule action on June 1 over several demands, including the payment of an additional service allowance, a risk allowance, and the formalisation of procedures for working on holidays and weekends.
Accordingly, wildlife veterinary officers have been engaged in the trade union action for more than two and a half months.
