Tourist arrivals surpass 1.2 million mark
SriLanka, July 14 -- Sri Lanka has recorded more than 1.2 million tourist arrivals so far this year, with the total number of visitors exceeding the 1.2 million mark by mid-July, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The SLTDA said 1,217,956 tourists arrived in the country from January 1 to July 12.
A total of 71,383 tourists visited Sri Lanka during the first 12 days of July, the data showed.
India accounted for the highest number of arrivals during July so far, with 16,610 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom with 7,296 and Australia with 4,656.
