Three arrested over plot to kill informant behind seizure of ICE worth Rs. 5 billion
Srilanka, Sept. 15 -- Police have arrested three suspects over an alleged plot to abduct and kill an informant who provided information leading to the seizure of 325 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine ('Ice') worth over Rs. 5 billion in Kirinda last year.
The suspects were arrested while allegedly hiding in a shop opposite the Lakshmi Devalaya in Sella Kataragama by a special team of the Walana Central Anti Vice Striking Force.
The main suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Maduka Chamara alias Madhuwa, a resident of Wellampitiya and an alleged close associate of organised criminals known as "Angoda Priyankara" and "Ruben."
