Sri Lanka's dengue cases surpass 59,000 so far this year
SriLanka, July 5 -- The total number of dengue cases reported in the country so far this year has exceeded 59,000, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
The Unit said that a total of 59,638 dengue cases have been reported during the year to date.
The highest monthly number of infections was recorded in June, with 21,546 cases reported.
Meanwhile, 4,251 dengue cases have been reported during the first four days of July.
The Western Province has recorded the highest number of cases, with 31,249 infections reported so far this year.
In addition, 9,507 cases have been reported from the Southern Province, while the Sabaragamuwa Province has recorded 5,172 cases.
