Sri Lanka, April 3 -- The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reports a significant decline in the number of foreign tourists who visited Sri Lanka in March 2026.

The number of tourist arrivals for the month stood at 183,979, reflecting a 19.7% decrease compared to March 2025, the SLTDA said.

According to the latest SLTDA data, the highest number of arrivals was from India, accounting for 47,533 visitors (26%).

This was followed by the United Kingdom (18,092), Russia (15,685), Germany (13,429), China (14,064), and France (8,359), the SLTDA stated.

Accordingly, the total number of tourist arrivals recorded from January 1 to March 31, 2026, reached a cumulative figure of 740,634, it added.
