Sri Lanka, May 20 -- Nearly 30,000 dengue cases have been reported across the country so far this year, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

Community Health Specialist Dr. Prashila Samaraweera said 29,589 dengue infections had been recorded by May 18, 2026, while 15 dengue-related deaths have also been confirmed during the same period.

Health authorities have identified 39 high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions as areas requiring urgent attention.

The Western Province has reported the highest number of cases, followed by the Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Dengue infections have been reported in all 25 districts nationwide, with the highest numbers recorded in Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Matara, Gal...
