Sri Lanka, April 1 -- Seven police officers attached to the Kotmale Police Station were injured in a wasp attack while conducting a raid on an illicit liquor distillery operating within a forest reserve in the Ramboda area of Wedamulla, Kotmale, today (01).
Police stated that while trekking through the reserve during the operation, a wasp nest on a tree was disturbed due to extremely dry weather conditions, resulting in seven police officers, including the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kotmale Crimes Investigation Division, being attacked by the swarm of wasps.
The OIC of the Kotmale Police, Indika Lalith, confirmed that the officers sustained injuries due to wasp stings.
