Sri Lanka, July 2 -- Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police in charge of the Eastern Province, Waruna Jayasundara has left the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a short while ago, after spending nearly four hours giving a statement.



He had been summoned to record a statement in connection with an investigation into an incident involving his alleged links to suspected organised crime figure Mandinu Padmasiri, alias "Kehelbaddara Padme".
